Intersectionality: the interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, and gender as they apply to a given individual or group, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage.

              My work often centers around the theme of intersectionality with an emphasis placed on helping viewers to increase communication amongst themselves and to expand their own personal sense of community and commonality. My hope is that by allowing viewers glimpses of themselves in places that they might not otherwise have naturally looked, they might come away finding themselves feeling a bit less alone in the world.

              My art delves into many different areas and involves a wide array of mediums. While I enjoy more traditional pursuits (acrylic on canvas, for example) I also spend much time working in crafting sculptures out of found objects and manipulating found images digitally.

              I have some experience showing my art in gallery settings and I have worked in and around the arts for many years. I have helped install numerous shows for known artists. I am currently a T.A. in the art department at Moorpark College, I formerly worked as a commercial artist, and I have taught and volunteered in multiple art-related capacities.
