New Orleans Area Artist Country: USA

Dimensions: 37 x 33 x 2
Type of work: : One-of-a-KindLabel Description: Created from hand painted collage elements, the painting creates the illusion of abstract strokes and movement to surround and flow through the figure creating a veil making his physicality and presence more elusive and less stable. The portrait was interpreted from a real social profile. I am interested in the blurring of public and private and how social media has been a great strides in activism on many fronts that might be considered good or bad. How has social media liberated the LGBTQ community? And how do we use it to continue the progress of various causes and methods to combat misinformation and discrimination.

Dimensions: 41 x 30 x 2
Type of work: : One-of-a-KindLabel Description: Social media Portrait Series Appropriated from the Scruff App. Oil, acrylic, spray paint and monotype collage. By fracturing and weaving multiple views of the same anonymous selfie from a social phone app, I am interested in what is projected by the users profile and what we perceive of them through the images and text interactions. To what degree has social media changed the quality and course of human interaction? What should we reveal about our politics, identity and sexuality through this media that has begun to blur the lines between personal and private.

Dimensions: 41 x 30 x 2
Label Description: Anonymous Social media Portrait Series Appropriated from the Scruff app. Oil, acrylic, spray paint and monotype collage. How are anonymous social and adult media apps changing the mechanics of socialization, language and the sexual dynamics of interaction in a tech savvy generation growing up in an era where HIV is medically treatable and appears to be less of the death sentence that it once was? I am interested in how social media has opened channels of communication for closeted, Bi and transgender communities as they explore and share commonalities of sexual identity and desire.

Type of work: : One-of-a-KindLabel Description: Anonymous Social media Portrait Series Appropriated from the Scruff App. Oil, acrylic, spray paint and monotype collage This is a portrait of a trans acquaintance that I met through a social media app. Over a period of a year or so, I chatted and exchanged texts sharing and learning more of their personality and life. By fracturing and weaving multiple views of the same anonymous selfie from a social phone app, I am interested in what is projected by the users profile and what we perceive of them through the images and text interactions. Abortion Navi-Gators
Abortion Navi-Gators
Margret Wilson
$200.00

Country: USA

Dimensions: 10 x 10 x 2.5
Type of work: : Unlimited ReproductionsLabel Description: This piece was created for & donated to my local Abortion Fund. We use gators to represent Florida assigned female at birth peoples. With the recent overturn of Roe, which is something long expected, we've had an increase number of people coming from other Southern States seeking help with their healthcare. Even prior to the fall of Roe, abortion wasn't easily accessible to many marginalized groups (for instance, the Hyde Amendment restricted many BIPOC from accessing abortion services.) Abortion funds have been long established to help with barriers such as childcare, financial, travel funds, and even provide ways out of state when need be. This network is a solid support system for people in need of abortion services. These waters make seem unknown and rough, but we're a strong community able to keep abortion safe & accessible for all.

$350.00

Country: United States

Dimensions: 20 x 20 x 3
Type of work: : Unlimited ReproductionsLabel Description: This painting is all about the ebb and flow of transformation. I was raised by a super strict and conservative mother. I was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and came to the United States when I was a little kid. Many immigrants put a lot of pressure on their children to work hard and become "successful". Going against my mothers wishes I became an artist rather than an accountant or engineer. I am happy with my decision and I feel like I've had such a drastic spiritual transformation, but I still feel myself shifting back and forth into rigid ways of thinking. Rigidity is like a crystal, it is well-ordered but slow to grow. I've also fallen too far the other way and lived in chaos. Success for me requires a balance between the creative and free-spirited side of me and the disciplined and ambitious side.

$350.00

Country: United States

Dimensions: 20 x 20 x 3
Type of work: : Unlimited ReproductionsLabel Description: Working as an exotic dancer for many years I've developed vertigo. Vertigo is a symptom, rather than a condition itself. It's the sensation that you, or the environment around you, is moving or spinning. This feeling may be barely noticeable, or it may be so severe that you find it difficult to keep your balance and do everyday tasks. It wasn't until I was already halfway done painting this piece that I realized I was painting what I saw when I stood up and got dizzy. Spinning around on a pole is really fun for me, and I was a figure skater when I was a kid that involved a lot of spinning too. Spinning has paid my bills and sustained me for eight years so this piece is special to me because of that.
